Save This Life Microchip Notice

February 14, 2025

Microchip manufacturer Save This Life is no longer in business, and the database that contains contact information is gone. If a pet with one of their chips is lost, currently there is no way to trace the microchip to the pet’s owner.

If your pet was microchipped at Value Pet Vet, you are NOT affected by this issue and there is nothing else for you to do.  Value Pet Vet uses PetLink microchips, which was  not affected by the closing of Safe This Life microchip manufacturer.  Your pet’s chip is registered in the national database and traceable to you (if your information in the database is updated and correct).

If your pet was microchipped at another animal hospital or provider, we urge you to contact them to see whether you need to re-register your pet’s microchip.  The good news is that Save This Life microchips are UNIVERSAL, meaning that they can be re-registered.

If you do not know if your pet is microchipped or do not remember where, please stop by Value Pet Vet for a free scan of your pet to get your pet’s microchip number.

If you need to re-register your pet’s chip, here are resources for you to consider:

24petwatch.com offers free microchip registration.

Free Registry Service at www.freepetchipregistry.com. This is a free database that is connected to the AAHA Universal Pet Microchip Lookup Tool.

PetLink at 1-877-PETLINK or Petlink Registration . Users can register Save This Life microchipped pets with petlink.net for $9.99 using the discount code: VEDCO.
